KRECR 101 Workshop Added!

Danielle Carmesin's picture

Dear Friends,

A quick workshop update...So far we have had 58 people attend KRECR 101 workshops. There has been great participation and learning for everyone involved. We feel this is a very important process to help clarify information about our school, increase engagement, grow enrollment and find amazing staff!

In the last two days I have received 8 student applications and expect an additional 3-5 from workshop participants. I believe this brings our total for Crescent City up to nearly 30. Our goal is to have 40 by the end of May and 75 by the end of June. I believe this is well within our reach.

I have added an additional workshop date to accommodate the requests we have been receiving to add more dates. Please see the attached workshop description and registration has been modified to include the new date of: Saturday, June 2, 2012 9:30-12:30.

Please feel free to post and/or share with any folks who may be interested.

Thank You!

KRECR is EXPANDING!!!

Danielle Carmesin's picture

For the past seven months the Klamath River Early College of the Redwoods Leadership team has been working closely with Del Norte County Office of Education, the Smith River Tribal Council, Howonquet Head-Start Parent Committee, and numerous partners in Crescent City to create educational choice for parents in the Greater Del Norte County.  After much review, the Del Norte County Board of Trustees will review and may approve the Early College to expand their sites and open a Kindergarten class in Smith River at the Howonquet Head-Start and K-10th grades in Crescent City at the former Pregancy Care Center. Below are outlines of each facility.

Public Notice: Intent to Apply

Danielle Carmesin's picture

Dear Del Norte County Youth Advocates,

How many times have we heard, “We need more opportunities for youth after school and on the weekends”? We now have the opportunity to make our dreams of after-school opportunities a reality. Klamath River Early College of the Redwoods is intending to apply for funding that would support after-school activities for children and youth in Klamath, as well as weekend activities throughout the school year and for 6 weeks during the summer.  However, this is a collaborative grant that requires all youth advocates to support the needs of children in Klamath.

Please set aside time to attend a 90-minute meeting during which we will cover:

- A brief overview of grant requirements

- Possible youth activities and opportunities

- Letters of Support

- Letters of Agreement

- Draft MOU’s

The meeting will take place Friday, November 4th 11:00-12:30 at the Yurok Tribe conference room in the Klamath Townsite. If you are prevented from attending this meeting, but are still interested in supporting this effort, please contact me at 707-482-1737. We look forward to collaboratively engaging with each of you to fill this important service gap in our community and appreciate your continued support of children in youth in Klamath.

Warmly,
